As the electric utilities attempt to achieve their ambitious decarbonization goals in the upcoming years, the electric grid is going to be faced with several challenges, including rapid penetration of renewable generation and retirement of legacy generating units, electric vehicle integration, increased need of coordinated generation, transmission and distribution planning and challenges with grid operations, among others. Key strategic changes have to occur in the way we design and plan the transmission and distribution systems in order to maintain the security, resilience, reliability, and stability of the electric power systems. The plenary session will discuss these challenges and changes that are taking place in the electric utility industry and provide the vision and perspectives of the industry leaders and experts from around the globe on how to address these complex issues.
The Plenary Session, organized by IEEE PES Corporate Engagement Program (CEP), will be held on April 25th from 9:30am – 10:30am CT, Room 391-392 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
