DOE Award – “Reliable Protection for an Inverter-Based Resources Dominant Grid”

DOE Award – “Reliable Protection for an Inverter-Based Resources Dominant Grid”

V&R Energy is excited to be a part of the team led by Con Edison on a recently awarded project funded by the DOE titled “Reliable Protection for an Inverter-Based Resources Dominant Grid: Technology Development and Field Demonstration”.

The project team, which includes Con Edison, Quanta Technology, LLC, Dominion Energy, San Diego Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison (SCE), Sandia National Laboratories, and V&R Energy will collaborate to develop and demonstrate improved grid fault protection strategies for systems with a high level of inverter based resources (IBRs).

The team will also demonstrate tools that effectively analyze interactions and facilitate coordination between transmission system protection and IBR plant protection.
