Boundary of Operating Region Transient Stability (BOR-TS) – Dynamic Security Region
BOR-TS is a fast, effective tool for planners and operators.
BOR-TS is a friendly, flexible and easy-to-use program to automatically generate nomograms.
While having all the features and functionality of BOR, BOR-TS allows the user to monitor both transient and steady-state limits. Monitored limits incorporated in BOR-TS are:
- Transient stability limit
- Steady-state stability limit
- Thermal limit
- Voltage range/drop limit
Different criteria may be used in BOR-TS to specify transient stability limit. For example, angular (first swing) stability may be considered as a transient stability constraint.
The system is secure under such operating conditions (such sets of injections) that no steady-state or transient stability constraints are being violated. This is the dynamic security region of a system.
Operating within the stability boundary is secure. Each point on the stability boundary corresponds to at least one of the steady-state or transient constraints being violated.
