Small-Signal Stability Analysis (SA) – Analysis of Oscillations
Small-signal stability analysis allows to study power system stability when subject to small disturbances. If power system oscillations caused by small disturbances can be suppressed, such that the deviations of system state variables remain small for a long time, the power system is considered to be stable.
SA includes the following activities when fully integrated into POM Suite:
- Small-signal stability limit computation
- Computes power transfer limit while monitoring small-signal stability.
- Small-signal stability index for base case and post-contingency
- The index is related to damping
- Sensitivity analysis
- Computes sensitivities of specified modes with respect to system parameters/operating conditions.
