This year, V&R Energy celebrates the 30-th anniversary of developing the first phasor measurement unit (PMU)-based application!
We’ve seen it grow from a research tool into two real-time platforms – one for the transmission system, PMU ROSE, and another for the distribution system – D-PMU ROSE.
V&R Energy invented and, in 2014, demonstrated the benefits of a PMU-based EMS system, which creates PMU cases (LSE cases), runs PMU-based power flow, and executes PMU-based advanced applications (RTCA, VSA, and others). Since then, the tool has been deployed world-wide.
About a decade later, in 2023, D-PMU ROSE was deployed by ComEd, marking the first field deployment of Distribution Linear State Estimator (DLSE) in the U.S.
As the grid evolves, PMU ROSE and D-PMU ROSE continue to advance, helping utilities address new system needs, including the impact of inverter-based resources and the rapid growth of data centers.
We are proud to collaborate with so many forward-thinking utilities to successfully deploy these applications.
